Understanding that Power is Freedom

Understanding that Power is Freedom

In our latest Blog, Rapid Transformational Therapist and Hypnotherapist Marcus Matthews talks about how understanding helps us create power and freedom in our lives.

If I had a pound for every client who came to me and said “This is the problem and this is why I feel the way I do” I would be a very, very rich man.

I want to tell you about a client I worked with and why understanding is power and understanding in hypnosis is the most phenomenal power.

I’ve change a few of the details to protect the client, but this is a true story and is a typical experience for my clients.

My client, let’s call her Susan, is a 37 year old single lady, with a two year old daughter, who had been suffering with low self-esteem, anxiety and lack of self worth since her teenage age years.

Having a chain of poor relationships and a chaotic adult life she felt lost, alone and couldn’t go on.

The only thing keeping her going was her daughter, she knew she needed to get help, but she had had years of talking therapy, counselling and was on prescription medication for her anxiety.

She felt numb and had forgotten what happiness felt like.

When I spoke to her, she said when she was 14 she was raped and the trauma of this incident is when things started to change.

Although she had a supportive family, she always felt she let them down because she spent her teenage years and twenties partying and numbing the pain to show she was ok and so other people wouldn’t worry.

On the outside she was confident and happy but inside she was broken.

A friend had told her about Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) and she felt she had nothing to loose and booked her session with me.

So did it work?

Susan believed the rape was the cause of why she felt the way she did, but in fact the root cause was traced back to when she was six years old.

At six she was day dreaming in school and was not doing her work. After being told off repeatedly the teacher who just happened to be male, said that she needed to stay in class to finish her work and was not allowed to go out to play.

During the session she experienced that same feeling, the feeling of a loss of control, a feeling of not being free.

You could see her mind start to join the dots. The same feeling, she felt in that typical scenario many children go through, a feeling that was age appropriate. That feeling was the same feeling she got when she felt out of control. The incident which she believed was the cause of all her pain, the time she was raped, was just the pivotal moment, the feeling attached itself to a truly traumatic event.

Once she released this feeling it didn’t diminish the event, but her reaction and feeling towards that awful event shifted.

She knew as the amazing, intelligent, beautiful women she was, she was free to take back control of her life.

I know from personal experience and that of my clients, when you understand the root cause of why you feel the way you do and you release those destructive feelings away from the stories you tell yourself everyday, you can take back control and start to live the life you deserve.

Susan had one session of RTT and took on my 21 day cognitive coach intensive program and now she is free. A month after seeing me she visited her doctor and is now off medication and is enjoying life once more.
