Endometriosis and Homeopathy

Endometriosis and Homeopathy

With February being Endometriosis awareness month, we thought it would be beneficial to share the story of one of our team, her experience of endometriosis personally and how it brought her to her professional discipline of homeopathy.

We'll let Rebecca Dove talk from here:

"This is my personal journey with Endometriosis, it brought me to homeopathy in the first place and is integral to my own self-discovery and work within my practice.

Whilst I was at Uni in my late teens and early twenties, I started to suffer from intense period pains and pain in my right lower abdomen. I took myself off to the GP’s and he started me off by giving me some medication for IBS, which I thought at the time was incredibly weird, but knowing nothing I took it and immediately knew it was making zero difference. I went back and he booked me into the local hospital Gynaecologist. I went on to have a laparoscopy which diagnosed me with Endometriosis and an ovarian cyst.

I knew nothing about the condition, and in the mid 90’s finding anything out was fairly difficult. I followed the Doctor’s advice and was put on a medication that blocked my pituitary gland and I went into a false menopause for 6 months aged 20. I can tell you that was brutal and had a massive impact on my body and emotions at the time – not great in the midst of my finals. I tried essential oils and herbs to manage symptoms, which did ease things a little.

After six months my periods came back and it was clear very little had changed, except now I had some pretty intense mood swings, probably a side effect of having my endocrine system messed about with so much. My symptoms continued and despite regular check-ups, nothing really changed.

Aged 26 now I was seeing the Gynaecologist and they were telling me there was nothing they could really do to help at this point, and apparently, there was nothing I could do to help myself. Total limbo and very frustrating. They told me I should have children very soon as I probably wouldn’t be able to later, something that really wasn’t on my radar at the time.

A breakthrough came though, in the shape of homeopathy. My friend was having homeopathy at the time for ME, and I was really impressed by the change it was making for her. I decided to give it a try and simultaneously bumped into someone training as a homeopath. I started treatment not really knowing what would happen…

What happened was a process that helped me to uncover so many aspects of myself. It was clear that the Endometriosis wasn’t just some imbalance in my body. I needed to go deeper and do some real processing work with my past, aspects from childhood and the difficulties I’d faced as a child. It helped me overcome my past and stuck emotions, it cleared the candida from my body and ultimately my endometriosis and ovarian cyst symptoms were eased beyond belief.

By the time I was 28 I had no recognisable symptoms. It took a variety of remedies to uncover different aspects of myself to get there, something I now understand as peeling back the layers. By this time, I’d enrolled as a student of homeopathy and was well on my way to sharing what I’d discovered with others. Freedom from pain and discomfort!

The best bit was yet to come through. I’ve carried on having regular sessions throughout my life not over 20 years completely symptom-free. I then went on to have my first child, with no intervention, at 43 way beyond the barrier the consultant gave me. The issues with fertility never really manifested and I’m now 47, in perimenopause with minimal symptoms.

I continue to promote the power of homeopathy and how it can free you from long-term suffering and chronic illness. It’s an absolute honour to help others have their unique journey and freedom from pain and suffering. Homeopathy is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel!

If you’d like to talk to me about Endometriosis or any other symptoms around menstruation, I would love to chat with you. You can book a curiosity chat with me and find out more."
