Kinesiology - What we know....

Kinesiology - What we know....

Integral health practitioner and Centre founder Ben Calder spoke on Kinesiology, epigenetics and allergies at the first ever Shropshire Frestival this month - a lecture gratefully received by the dozens in the audience.

But lots of questions were asked about Kinesiology, what it is, and the effects it has.

So we thought we would share some of the information Ben shared at Frestival here with you!

Wikipedia tells us that Kinesiology is...

‘the scientific study of human or non-human body movement. Kinesiology addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological dynamic principles and mechanisms of movement’

And that definition is a good description - but what does it actually mean? What can Kinesiology do for us?

Ben told the audience at Frestival that it was his first experience with Kinesiology, and the effect it had, that led to his training and experience in the area - and to the Centre of Integral Health today.

Kinesiology study looks at how the muscles coordinate and act in the body. It is based on the science of meridian energy balancing (like in acupuncture) and involves a range of gentle techniques, that can have a powerful effect on people suffering with ill health connected to how their muscles are working within the body.

The process involves testing the muscles to identify imbalances in the body's structural, chemical, emotional or other energy, to establish the body's priority healing needs - ie what needs to change to push-start the healing process.

Stress is one of the ailments it can be easy to link changes in the muscles to - clenched hands, tight shoulders - you can understand how a treatment involved in focusing on assisting muscles can help.

Modern Bio-energetic Kinesiology has strong associations with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and a kinesiologist will use muscle testing to detect imbalances in the 5 Element Organ system and to find solutions that restore the muscle integrity and strengthen the body and mind.

Kinesiology is used to treat a host of emotional stresses such as anxiety, depression and burnout, amongst others as well as nutrition and learning difficulties.

It is a technique that Ben has been working with for many years.
