Sovereignty Meditation Series: Samhain
Sovereignty Meditation Series: Samhain
As a celebration of part of the Sovereignty series of meditations developed by Sue and Simon Lilly, Samhain represents the start of the traditional year. The goddess image highlighted by them is Morgan, Queen of the Wheel.
The energy she represents gives us the opportunity to create intense healing and integration at fundamental levels of being. To encourage better contact with the earth, which at this point in the year takes on a very different quality, the smell and feel of it are unlike at any other point in the year. This aids in grounding and the ability to draw on deep levels of personal power. Imagination and inspiration can be used in everyday, practical ways. It can help us to understand deep emotions without the need to share them with others.
The energies in the visual key and audio essence we will be using at the meditation include that of:
Spindle, for understanding ones true nature and needs. Increased sense of security, reducing the need to compare oneself with others. For any feelings of superiority/inferiority. It helps to energise the soul and to access the energies of the shadow self in an integrated, positive way
Sweet Mace for clarity of understanding, bringing an easy flow of communication on all levels.
Amethyst Deceiver that on an energetic level blends fine spiritual energies with those of the planet.
Done in the presence of Mandrake which creates a very strong link with the levels of awareness that interface human and plant worlds. Helps with strong transformation and practical change. It clarifies the reasons for emotional outbursts and supports visionary flow and creative ideas. It gives increased dynamism and energy application.
Blended during Samhain, the new year of the Pagan and Celtic calendars, known as All Hallows of the Christian year. It is a time for beginnings and endings and celebrating those who have gone before. A time too, of reflection on our own lives. The true meaning of this festival has been twisted and denigrated over the centuries, taking it away from its power to transform, regenerate and honour the past. This is also celebrated as Mahalakshmi in the vedic calendar, a feast day of abundance and fulfilment.
The Archetypal energy of Morgan bring the challenge to deal with adverse situations and misunderstandings. Morgan is possibly the most misunderstood character in Arthurian Legends. Her role has been recently clarifies in books by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Morgan has both the power to heal and harm.
In many tellings of the legend she is wicked and scheming, with contacts with the faerie world. Like that realm she is also considered amoral and untrustworthy. Like Nimunë (Autumn Equinox Goddess), there are lots of clues that indicate she belongs to both worlds and has a broader view of events than most humans.
Like the goddess Kali, she is not someone you would want as an enemy, but is very useful as a friend and protector! She is seen as powerful, challenging and unpredictable.
She challenges both men and women to look at the parts of themselves they hide and shy away from. In these parts we have locked away our own power. By looking honestly and squarely at these facets we can change the apparent negatives into strong, positive traits. In this she shows us that there is always hope.
We will begin the meditation on Friday 31st at 6pm in the Centre. As previously we will be combining a guided visualisation to help ground and stabilise your energy in to the next phase of the year. This will be supported by a visual key representing all the energies named above and an audio essence of the same nature, and a crystal essence also made specifically for this moment.
No previous experience is necessary and it doesn't matter if this is the first of these you have attended, all are welcome.
