Mindfulness and Circling Taster Workshops 26th June & 17th July 2014

Mindfulness and Circling Taster Workshops 26th June & 17th July 2014

This is a really great opportunity for you to develop two really essential skills in your mental/emotional/spiritual development. Much has been written about mindfulness in the last few years and its ability to significantly reduce anxiety and help with stress.

These introductory classes, run by Circling and Mindfulness Teacher Louise Birch are there to help you understand and experience the benefits of both of these practices and how to incorporate them into your daily life. Come and find out what it’s about, potential benefits, developing a practice, and an opportunity to take part in some simple mindfulness practices. A full 8 week course will start at the Centre on Thursday September 11th.This is open to any ability and age and is a perfect moment to start living more in the now.

Circling has been described as interpersonal meditation. We will practice simple pair work exercises to bring deeper connection with self and others, an opportunity to take part in a group circling practice where a volunteer participant can offer to be the focus of attention for the circle.

The evening will give you an opportunity to explore how bringing greater awareness to thoughts, feelings and sensations can improve general wellbeing. There will be a chance to explore how you can develop deeper presence in the way you relate with others, be it with partner, family members, colleagues or friends.

There will be a chance to discuss if mindfulness practices and/or circling practices are for you and ways you can deepen these practices. More information can be found about Circling here.

The aim is also to generate interest in developing a regular Circling group here at the Centre which would be an amazing opportunity to practice regular interpersonal meditation. I for one can tell you that this is a very powerful and deeply transformative practice.

All are welcome. No previous experience needed.

My Background:

I have worked in education for over 20 years in a variety of roles, including teaching English and Business Studies to children and adults. I have been meditating for nearly 10 years and practising mindfulness for 5 years. During this time, I have also been on an intensive journey of personal development which has included: extensive personal Integral coaching; an introduction to Integral theory; training in counselling skills; training to teach mindfulness to adults through Bangor University Centre for Mindfulness and to children through the Mindfulness In Schools Project; intensive training in the practice of Circling (a powerful interpersonal meditation practice). I am passionate about the benefits of Mindfulness and Circling and on a personal level have gained powerful insights into how I relate to myself and the world around me and most significantly I have conquered a 30 year battle with depression. I currently have a particular interest in how Circling and

Mindfulness can increase the quality of family life and have experienced this on a personal level with my three children. I have delivered Mindfulness courses to groups of adults and children and also one to one. I am passionate about bringing the gifts of Mindfulness and Circling into this challenging and wonderful world in which we live.
