In Defence of Self - Emotional Stress

There’s a change in the quality of light and in the air. It’s still warm but there’s a sultry heaviness. Plants and trees are burgeoning and bearing fruit, their branches heavy and laden with sun-warmed fruits.

The nights are beginning to draw in, getting slightly darker at an earlier point at each night.

In a couple of week’s time it’s Lammas the time when summer officially becomes late summer. In Shrewsbury this usually coincides with the annual flower show. Many locals comment that the swallows and swifts that have graced our skies for the last few months leave after the flower show. A true sign that Lammas is here and the wheel of the year reaches another key point.

For some this is accompanied with a vague sense of unease. A slight anxiety in the pit of the stomach, as the knowledge of darker, cooler days means a return to days inside and longer nights without the light.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is usually associated with the depths of winter yet many people feel its touch at this time of the year, particularly as August draws to a close and September approaches.

To prepare for the darker days ahead and to help us feel balanced and grounded our master-class will gently guide you through the change of the season with a detailed overview that explains the changes in the seasons, helping us to understand our bodies’ reactions and tune in to that, rather than fight it. We’ll look at Seasonal Affective Disorder and explore oils to use to counteract the feelings of anxiety and depression. Each participant will make a natural mood enhancer, which will help ease feelings of anxiety and depression, helping us get the most out of the winter rather than burrowing away from it. We’ll end the class with a meditation, which will help to integrate the season and give us a positive outlook on the week’s to come.

Our next Masterclass is on August 4th at 7.00. Classes are an hour and a half long and are held at The Centre for Integral Health. We have six places allocated on a first come first served basis and cost £20.00 Please contact me on 0777 2609696 or e-mail jen@revivearomatherapy.com to reserve your place.
