Inspired to Create a Healthy Home
It's a great pleasure for us to be welcoming Kate Bevan Wood to the Centre to practice her Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine Diagnostic Testing. We asked Kate to give us a bit of an intro to her self, her work and what she can do for you all. Read on and find out why nutritional testing might just be what you need to solve those health riddles.
HI, I’m Kate, I am a mother of 2 gorgeous children and wife to a very supportive husband. My own love of nutrition stems back to my childhood and having access to either home grown or locally sourced food as a family, with my mum cooking up healthy meals and teaching us the importance of different food types. When my son was born he had eczema for the first few years of his life and I found that by eliminating certain foods from his diet helped to decrease the severity of this and it eventually disappeared altogether without the use of harsh creams and ointments. Knowing the impact that food could have on our bodies first hand only fuelled my interest further, so I enrolled on a 3 year diploma with the renowned College of Naturopathic Medicine as a way of learning more and giving me the opportunity to share my passion with others.
Nutritional Therapy is not a “one size fits all” approach. It uses the application of nutritional science via a range of clinical assessment and diagnostic tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and how these may contribute to an individual’s health concerns and presenting symptoms. These may include a full case history, functional and intolerance testing.
I put together personalised plans to recommend improvements to diet and lifestyle, while providing education about nutrition, support in the form of guided shopping, recipe ideas and supplementation where required to achieve optimal health and wellbeing. I am continuously learning about new and exciting research in nutrition, writing published articles about nutrition, giving talks and holding workshops for local groups and businesses and I am a Clinical Assistant Supervisor for the College of Naturopathic Medicine, overseeing final year students in their clinical practice.
Some of the areas that I support in my practice are:
• Hormonal Health and balancing
• Weight loss and management
• Detoxification
• Children’s Nutrition
• Food intolerance and allergies
• Digestive Health
• Menstrual Health
• Immune Health
• Stress
• Fatigue
• Mood Health
Or it may be that you want support to improve the health and vitality of your family or simply just want to be a healthier version of you.
